There are a limited number of things people actually do on web sites: click, read, register, subscribe, or buy. Any site visitor should be able to execute one of those actions in less than ten seconds...make it any more complicated than that, and you run the very real risk that your visitor will give up and go to another site...where they can actually find what they want.
I am commited to usable, easy-to-navigate sites with a with effective information design. I practice information design as finding the "sweet spot" where a clean, aesthetically-pleasing interface, intuitive navigation, and compelling content come together. Your site will support your message, not overwhelm it.
Sharilyn Horne Business Concepts offers three different types of web sites: "brochure sites", one-page sites, and portal sites. Read below for details on each option:
Brochure Sites
A "brochure site" is the most common type of site of the web. It contains several pages of static content, generally including a home page, an about page, and several other pages of supporting content.
Brochure Sites provide your potential clients with some basic information about your company and what products/services you offer. If you're putting together your first site, this is probably the best way to introduce yourself to the online world!
A five to eight page brochure site is $700. This includes developing a strategy for your site, two rounds of revisions, META tags, and production graphics. Additional add-ons include a blog, additional pages, shopping cart or PayPal integration, and content development. Please note this does not include hosting or domain registration.
Recently-launced brochure sites include Feline Adoption and Rescue Society, Sheri Rowland, Life Transitions Coach, and Rising Star Press.
One-page Sites
The most common types of the one-page site are sales letters and email converters. Both of these require a product (free in the case of email converters). If written well, they can be highly effective and expand your network for future products.
A one-page site is $350. It includes three pages (one main page, plus two for autoresponders and related supporting pages), form setup and capture (autoresponder), a title banner,META tags, and one round of revisions. Please note this does not include hosting or domain registration.
Starting Over Today is a recent example of a one-page site.
Portal Sites
Multiple Streams, anyone? When you have a number of different sites or information products available, a portal site is the perfect way to bring them together on one page.
Portal sites generally don't have any content of their own, just a series of beautifully-designed graphical banners that direct people to your various offerings.
Portal sites range from $250 to $400, depending on the number of banners in your site. It includes one page, the number of banners you specify, and one round of revisions. Please note this does not include premium stock photography, hosting or domain registration.
A great example of a portal site is my work on The Dovid Grossman Experience.
Other Options
Other types of sites are available, such as a content management system. This very site was, in fact, built using Movable Type as a low-end content management system.
If you're interested in a dynamic site in which you can update much of the content yourself, get in touch and we can discuss specifics.
It's easy to be a little gun shy if your first web site wasn't what you had hoped for. Whether you hired your neighbor's cousin on the cheap, you tried to do it yourself and got way in over your head, or it just no longer meets the needs of your business, I'm here to help.
I specialize in web site makeovers. Whether you need a cosmetic lift, or a complete rebuild from the ground up, I recognize that there are additional factors to take into account when REdesigning a site.
I'll meet with you to determine the site strategy, and conduct a careful assessment of your previous site...so we don't repeat the same things that were bothersome before.
Site redesign ranges from $400 to $600 and up, depending on the level of change needed. Please note this does not include hosting or domain registration.
Recent site redesigns include Feline Adoption and Rescue Society, Sheri Rowland, Life Transitions Coach, and Rising Star Press.
Simply uploading and launching a site doesn't mean the work is done. It's important to keep your content fresh, both for site visitors and the search engines. Out-of-date content is very frustrating for site visitors, and can be a sure way to send them running for another site!
I am available to update and maintain your site on a regular basis, whether I designed it or not. Site maintenance is $50/hour, with a discount of 20% available for a pre-paid block of time.
I can provide advice on several different ecommerce options, and help you determine which one is right for your needs. I can then implement the cart into your current site and show you how to best use it for your needs.
